The 2025 edition of the University of Ghana (UG) Corporate Football League competition will kick off on Friday, February 21 at the UG Sports Stadium.
The league would bring together professionals from diverse sectors, and aims to foster teamwork, networking and corporate engagement through football.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Kofi Adams, Minister of Sports and Recreation, commended the University for the initiative.
He said, “I commend the UG Sports Directorate for spearheading these initiatives, the efforts for promoting universities and high school sports have been commendable.

“I am confident that this league serves the standard of cooperate sports in Ghana and the entire world.”
He said the vision outlined by the school authorities was bridging academia and the corporate world.
He called on Non-governmental Organisation, individuals, cooperate entities to also partner with the lesser-known sports.
He said the private sector must play a bigger role funding and promoting diverse sporting disciplines.
He said, “Let me use this opportunity to appeal to cooperate bodies to support lesser-known sports while football dominate the headlines, disciplines like badminton, cycling, armwrestling, swimming, hockey, requires stronger investment to develop talent.”
Dr. Luguterah W. Austin, UG Sports Directorate said this initiative was not only sporting competition but “it is a strategic alignment with the University of Ghana’s fourth Strategic priorities, which encourages engagement and partnerships.”
He said sports served as a powerful tool for fostering teamwork, discipline and resilience and the essential values were not only for athletes professional and corporate settings.
